First, Luxor is a classical Arabic word ¬which meant (palaces) as the Arabs when ¬they arrived Luxor they expected the temples with it's pillars and columns are the remains of the palaces of the ancient¬ pharaohs. Thebes was the ancient name of¬ Luxor, and was the center of worship the¬ supreme God "Amun-Ra". Luxor was the capital of Egypt during the new Kingdom period, and it was the center of knowledge -and power at that time.
Luxor is described all the time as the ¬"world's largest open Museum" as the remains of temples and tombs, where ever you go. There is no other city in the entire world rich with history as Luxor is.
